Policies
This is the central repository containing the official version of all Red Deer Polytechnic policies and their related procedures which are currently in effect. These are distinct from the Board of Governors' policies.
Red Deer Polytechnic policies and procedures are developed to
- advance the Polytechnic’s vision, mission, core values and strategic direction;
- set behavioral expectations of employees, students and, where appropriate, third parties, visitors and volunteers;
- communicate roles and responsibilities;
- manage institutional risk; and
- promote operational efficiency, effectiveness and legal compliance.
Any individual at Red Deer Polytechnic may submit a proposal to create, revise or rescind a policy. Under the Policy and Procedure Framework, the first step is to complete a Policy Vetting Form. The form is reviewed by the Manager, Judicial and Academic Affairs, who provides a response based on the details the requester has provided in the form, and provides guidance about how to navigate the next steps.
The President is responsible for the final approval of proposed academic, administrative and academic-administrative policies recommended to the President by Academic Council, Service Council and Deans' Council.
