Volunteer Opportunities

Setting up for the Legacy Walkway Reveal PartyVolunteering at Red Deer Polytechnic is a rewarding way to support learners, connect with alumni and supporters, and contribute to the culture of community at our institution.

Volunteers act as ambassadors to new and prospective students. They contribute to scholarship by presenting to students. Volunteers produce some of our fundraising events and serve on the committees that help determine how these events will take shape.

Fill out the form below if you'd like to take advantage of one of these exciting volunteer opportunities, or keep reading to learn more.

Red Deer Polytechnic Alumni Association

Board of Directors

The Red Deer Polytechnic Alumni Association is governed by a volunteer executive Board of Directors. They are dedicated to:

  • promoting academic excellence by supporting RDP students through scholarships, mentorship, on-campus programming, and celebrations
  • maintaining an informed, interested and committed alumni community through ambassadorship and communications
  • furthering the relationships made while attending RDP as community connectors, and hosting engagement events and activities
  • ensuring that the Polytechnic continues to play an integral role in central Alberta by supporting community initiatives, and being positive front facing representatives of the Alumni Association

There are exciting things on the horizon for this Board! We are collaborating with the RDP Board of Governors and Foundation Board, shaping our new strategic priorities, and planning for Convocation 2022 where we will congratulate the first class to graduate from Red Deer Polytechnic. You can also help the Board plan and host our annual RDPAA signature event.

The Board is a collaborative group. You'll receive one-on-one onboarding from the Executive Director of the RDPAA, customized training and resources, and you'll learn from other Board members and the Board executive team. RDP staff and resources will broaden your knowledge and support your work.

RDPAA Chapter Leader

You can make connections and make a difference in your local community by becoming a Chapter Leader. These extensions of the RDPAA will work closely with the Board to plan and host engaging activities and events, keep their communities informed and support RDP students. Think about the difference you could make in your community by connecting with other alumni. Your RDPAA Local Chapter could create scholarship programs for rural learners to provide students from your area with more access to post-secondary education, or mentorship programs for new graduates in your town. You could create social or professional networking events, develop professional panels that drive economic development or tap into the expertise of local alumni to create workshops and learning opportunities. You could organize alumni to attending Kings and Queens Athletics events in your city, bringing RDP fans to the stands at away games. The possibilities are endless, and the RDPAA Board of Directors and Alumni Engagement Coordinator will help you engage with and energize your local alumni community.

RDPAA Events and activities

The RDPAA support alumni, student and Athletics events including Convocation and Open House. If you'd like to be involved with the work of the RDPAA but you're not sure that you can commit to serving on the Board of Directors, join us for an event. Many different types of opportunities are available.

Red Deer Polytechnic Foundation

RDP Foundation Board of Directors

The Red Deer Polytechnic Foundation Board is governed by a volunteer executive and works to build financial and community support for Red Deer Polytechnic. The Foundation was established in 1982 to support the strategic priorities of RDP:

  • Serve as the non-operational fundraising arm of RDP
  • Attract increased financial support for the students and programs at RDP
  • Cultivate a committed volunteer base and community champions

This Board connects Red Deer Polytechnic to the community and to community members who want to make an impact. As a member, you will collaborate with the RDPAA Board of Directors and Board of Governors to bring awareness to RDP. You will provide strategic leadership and support to the Polytechnic with regard to fund development and fundraising activities. You'll provide input and help shape a future-focused strategic direction of the Board as we begin our new journey as Red Deer Polytechnic. Contributors are passionate, creative and motivated. They ask great questions and look for measurable results. If you are a good communicator, a consensus builder and a visionary, consider joining the Foundation Board.
