Red Hot Science at Red Deer Polytechnic

Red Hot Science Dome ActivitySpark your interest or your student’s interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with a fun-filled morning or afternoon spent at Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP).

You and your students will learn a lot while having fun participating in a variety of hands-on activities.

We welcome youth from across central Alberta to participate in Red Hot Science.

Red Hot Science Indoor ActivityWhether you’re in elementary school, junior high or high school, we work with your teachers and youth group leaders to customize activities so you have an enjoyable STEM experience. You can choose from the following types of activities:

  • conduct experiments and activities in RDP's biology, chemistry and physics labs
  • learn about different types of engineering and technology projects
  • create simple coding, build robots and learn other digital skills (through information and activities provided by CanCode)

Groups participate in activities led by Red Deer Polytechnic instructors and current students.

Red Hot Science Outdoor ActivityTypically, we have time for up to three activities in each Red Hot Science experience. We can organize these activities for you to attend RDP, or we can also discuss opportunities to bring these activities to other facilities where you meet (e.g. a youth centre, community hall, library or other locations).

In the past, we’ve welcomed Indigenous youth, Scouts and Girl Guides, and a variety of school, homeschool, youth and community groups to join us for the Red Hot Science program.
