If you are interested in beginning your career or entering into post-secondary, getting your GED can open doors to many opportunities! Many employers and post-secondary institutions will accept the GED, but it is always best to check with your employer or with the educational institution you plan to attend to determine what opportunities the GED will open up for you. The GED exam is available in English, but can also be written in French with advanced notice.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to write the GED exam, you must be 18 years of age or older and have been out of high school for at least 10 consecutive months.
Examination Overview
Preparing for the GED Exam
Study guides are available from the RDC Campus Store, major bookstores such as Chapters, or your public library. Please note that the GED Study Guide should be a Canadian edition and a version more recent than 2002.
Exam Schedule
Day One
Test 1: Language Arts, Reading (65 minutes)
Test 2: Science (80 minutes)
Test 3: Social Studies (70 minutes)
Day Two
Test 4: Mathematics* (90 minutes)
Test 5: Language Arts, Writing (120 minutes)
*For PART 1 of the Mathematics exam, learners are permitted to use a scientific calculator issued by the writing centre. No other references or resources are permitted for any GED examination.

How to Register
The 2-day GED exam is available on the second Wednesday and Thursday of each month. Applicants should plan to be in the exam room from 9am – 1pm on each day.

Please note:
- The exam fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another writing location. Exam dates are non-transferable.
- Seats are offered on a first come, first served basis and fill up quickly. Apply in advance to secure your seat!
- Applicants must bring photo ID to their exam sitting or they will not be permitted to write the GED exam.
