Instructor

Biology

Anne Dempsey completed her undergrad and M.Sc. at the University of Lethbridge. Her thesis focused on the Oreohelix snails of the Cypress Hills and Rocky Mountains of Southern Alberta. The evolutionary history of these snails is surprisingly complex and is closely tied to the very landscape itself. Additionally, these snails are host to an invasive parasite that is no less complex and interesting! To this day, Anne will do her best to share her fascination with anyone who will listen.

While acting as a lab instructor in Lethbridge, Anne picked up a passion for teaching. By the time she defended her thesis, she had decided that she would be an instructor at a post-secondary institution. Soon after her time at the University of Lethbridge, Anne began teaching at Red Deer Polytechnic where she can spend her days sharing the wonders of biology with students.
