Tuition & Fees for Domestic Students
Tuition Deposit Information
The information below is for domestic students. International students should view relevant Tuition and Fees information.
Non-Refundable Tuition Deposit of $400 is required for;
- New Students: Those who have never attended Red Deer Polytechnic credit programming before.
- Returning Students: Those who previously attended Red Deer Polytechnic but took a break in studies lasting at least one major (Fall or Winter) term.
Tuition Deposit is not required for;
- Continuing Students: Current Red Deer Polytechnic students who will be continuing their studies.
Paying your tuition deposit tells RDP you plan to attend. You must pay the full deposit before you can register for courses. If you don't pay by the deadline, RDP will cancel your admission, assuming you no longer want to attend.
Fall Term 2025 Deposit Payment Deadlines
- Admitted October 1 - March 31
- Payment Deadline: April 30
- Admitted April 1 - July 26
- Payment Deadline: One month from the date of admission.
- Admitted July 27 - August 26
- A tuition deposit is not required as your tuition & fees must be paid in full by August 27.
- Admitted on or after August 27
- A tuition deposit is not required as your tuition & fees must be paid in full within 48 hours of course registration.
Admission & Tuition Deposit Deferrals
If you can't attend RDP, you can ask to delay your admission, once, for up to a year. To defer your admission and tuition deposit:
- Log in to your MyRDP account
- Select Online Services, then Student Services, then Applications
- Choose "Program Change - Current" from the dropdown menu
- Complete the required information
If you can't submit this request online, email admissions for assistance.
You must request a deferral by the last add/drop date for your original term. If we approve your request by this deadline, we'll move your application fee and tuition deposit to your new term. If you request after the deadline, we'll charge a cancellation fee equal to your deposit.
Term Tuition & Fee Payment Deadlines
Tuition and fees must be paid, or alternate arrangements must be made, by the end of business day on the applicable deadline.
If payment is not received by the deadline, you will be charged a late/re-registration fee and may be cancelled. If cancelled, you may re-register if space is available and payment is made at the time of re-registration.
If you register after the last day to pay, you must set up a payment plan or pay your tuition and fees in full within 48 hours of registering in courses.
Tuition and fees for each term are due by 4:30 pm on or before the following dates:
- Winter 2025 (January - April) - January 7, 2025
- Spring 2025 (May - June) - May 1, 2025
- Summer 2025 (July - August) - July 2, 2025
- Fall 2025 (September - December) - August 27, 2025
The Institution expects that every student who receives services, for which a financial obligation is incurred, meets that obligation. The Institution staff are empowered to act under established procedures to carry out the intent of this policy. Admission to the institution, permission to register, transcripts, enrollment verifications and credentials will be withheld for failure to meet financial obligations.
Red Deer Polytechnic reserves the right to correct errors or omissions in publishing and alter fees without notice.
Payment Methods
Through MyRDP
Credit card or Visa Debit is required.
Tuition Deposit Payment
- Log in to your MyRDP account.
- Select Money Matters from the menu.
- Select My Account.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select eBill+ePayment.
- Select eBill+ePayment again on the next screen.
- Maximize the new window that opens and select Deposits.
- Choose Tuition Deposit from the drop-down menu and click Select.
- Follow the remaining prompts to complete your transaction.
Tuition & Fee Payments
- Log in to your MyRDP account and click on Tuition & Fee Payments from the menu, select Student Fees.
- Click on eBill+ePayment to enter the online payment system.
- Select Deposits to make a payment towards your Tuition Deposit, or select the term you wish to make a payment toward.
Note: A 2.65% service fee will be charged on all credit card payments and a 1.65% service fee will be added to all Visa Debit and MasterCard debit transactions. These service fees are non-refundable.
Online Banking
Set up “Red Deer Polytechnic” as a payee on your bill payment profile using your nine-digit student ID number as your account number.
Allow three business days for bank processing.
Payments sent via Online Banking must be received 48 hours before the deadline for processing requirements to avoid late charges.
Interac e-Transfer
E-transfers can be sent to cashier@rdpolytech.ca noting your Student ID number and full name in the memo.

In-Person
The Fee's Office is open Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30pm (excluding holidays).
The following forms of payment are accepted:
- Cash
- Interac Debit
- Cheque
- Bank Drafts
- Money Order
Cheques, bank drafts and money orders are payable to Red Deer Polytechnic and must include your nine-digit student ID number. Postdated payments are not accepted.

Payment Plan
If you can't pay your full tuition and fees by the deadline, you can sign up for a payment plan. This splits your costs into monthly payments.
Select Tuition & Fee Payments in your MyRDP account, select Student Fees then eBill+ePayment to enter the online payment system. Select Payment Plans to set up a new payment plan.
Payments will follow the term schedule:
- Fall: Initial payment at setup, then September 30, October 31 and November 30.
- Winter: Initial payment at setup, then February 1, March 1 and April 1.
- Spring: Initial payment at setup and June 1.
- Summer: Initial payment at setup and August 1.
Important
- Payment plans cannot be set up for payment of your tuition deposit. Tuition deposits must be paid in full by your tuition deposit deadline.
- Your payment plan must be created before the term tuition and fee payment deadline.
- A $50 deferral administration charge will be applied to your account.
- Payment plans must be set up for each term.
- Apprenticeship students are not able to enroll in an RDP payment plan.
- Students enrolled in RDP Continuing Education programs are unable to enroll in this payment plan but may have alternative payment plan options. Contact CECT for options.

Student Loans, Awards & Other Funding
Students receiving loans, grants, awards, bursaries, etc. are responsible for verifying their funding will cover the full amount owed to Red Deer Polytechnic and for paying any outstanding balance if it does not.

Sponsorships
Students who are having any portion of their tuition and fees paid by a third-party sponsor (employer, Indigenous organization, not-for-profits, etc.) must submit a sponsorship letter to the Cashiers Office prior to the term tuition and fee payment deadline.
Faculty & Staff Tuition Waivers
Eligible Red Deer Polytechnic employees are required to submit completed Tuition Waiver Applications to the People & Culture department for review and processing. Upon approval, any waiver entitlement will be credited to the student's account.
Fee Descriptions & Program Cost Estimates
Tuition rates vary by program and/or course. Billing credits are assessed in accordance with the Assignment of Academic and Billing Credits to Courses Policy. Fees are set in accordance with Alberta tuition fee regulation requirements as outlined in the Alberta Tuition Framework
Red Deer Polytechnic's Cost Estimates provide a breakdown of the estimated cost for each year of each program, based on the current academic year's tuition and fee rates. These estimates are based on 100% full-time enrolment.

Material and Special Fees are in addition to regular tuition rates and reflect the extra costs associated with specific courses such as travel, supplies and materials. Click here to review the current list of material and special fees.
The Activity and Wellness Fee is used to improve and expand student access and programming related to physical activity, wellness and athletics.
The Facility, Service & Technology (FST) Fees support maintaining and improving the Institution's infrastructure as per the following:

- Signage
- Interior and exterior environments (study kiosks, flooring, washrooms, barrier-free accessibility, pedestrian walkways, etc.)

Refunds & Cancellations
General Refund Information
- Processing Time: Refunds may take up to six weeks due to high volume. Note: Refunds are processed individually based on the payment method and timing of the original transaction.
- Contact for Assistance: For all refund-related questions, please contact the Fees Office.
- Refund Method Based on Payment Type:
- Credit Card: Refunds (excluding deposits for Red Deer Polytechnic Residence) are issued back to the original credit card.
- Cash/Check/Bank Draft/Money Order/Electronic Transfer: Refunds are processed through direct deposit. Ensure your information is up to date using our Direct Deposit Guide. If direct deposit details are not available, refunds will be issued by check.
- Government Funding: Refunds are sent directly to the original funding agency. Contact your funding provider for more details.
- Third-Party Sponsorship: Refunds are issued directly to the sponsoring organization.
- Flywire (International Payments): Refunds for payments made via Flywire are processed through Flywire.
- International Wire Transfers: Due to banking regulations, refunds may take up to six months to process.
Credit Programming Refunds
- Refund Eligibility Deadlines:
- Before Last Day to Pay: Students who withdraw before this deadline receive a full refund of tuition and fees, excluding any non-refundable deposits.
- Between Payment Deadline and Last Day to Add/Drop: A $400 cancellation fee, plus any non-refundable fees, will be deducted from the refund.
- After Last Day to Add/Drop: No refunds are provided.
- Exceptional Circumstances: Students facing unique or extenuating situations may submit a Late Drop Request to the Admissions Office for review.
- Course Cancellations by Red Deer Polytechnic: If RDP cancels a course or program, students will receive a full refund of tuition and fees automatically.
Apprenticeship Programs
- Cancellation Before Training Begins: Students who cancel before the technical training begins are entitled to a refund, minus a $150 cancellation fee.
- Procedure to Cancel: Contact the Admissions Office directly to ensure your withdrawal is processed correctly and on time.

Tax Information
Tax information for each year will be available on the last day of February following the applicable calendar year. Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) will issue the following tax forms:
T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificate
The T2202 is an official tax document for claiming eligible tuition fees on your Canadian income tax return.
- Available online February 28 each year for the previous calendar year.
- Includes only fees assessed and paid within the tax year (January–December).
- Before tax forms are issued, ensure your Social Insurance Number (SIN) and address are correct in your MyRDP account.
- If you update personal information after a T2202 is issued, changes will appear on next year's form.
Eligibility for Tuition Tax Credit
To qualify for the tuition tax credit:
- Your eligible tuition fees must exceed $100 in the tax year
- You must be enrolled in a post-secondary level course
- Academic upgrading courses don't qualify for the T2202
- Tuition fees are based on when courses occur, not when you pay for them, an outstanding balance will impact your T2202 amount.
Note: RDP's definition of full-time/part-time differs from CRA guidelines.
CRA considers you:
- Full-time student: At least 10 hours of instruction per week for at least three consecutive weeks
- Part-time student: At least 12 hours of instruction per month for at least three consecutive weeks

Access your T2202 through MyRDP. Click the tax card link on your main page to download your form.
Don't forget to save a copy for your records.

- Issued if you received at least $500 in awards, bursaries, or honorariums from RDP
T4 Statement of Remuneration Paid
- Issued if you earned employment income from RDP
