Documents Required for International Applicants

To be a Red Deer Polytechnic student, international students must meet the academic requirements for their program of choice. You can view admission requirements on each of RDP’s program webpages.  

To help RDP assess applications from international students, we accept high school and post-secondary institution transcripts and other official documents from countries around the world.  

Please find the country listed below where you attended high school courses, and then read the list of documents that RDP will accept from that country.  

You may also refer to information about which high school courses from countries outside Canada meet admission requirements for RDP’s programs.  

We appreciate your help in providing us with the appropriate documents listed below that we require for us to assess your application to attend Red Deer Polytechnic.    

  • RDP's Office of the Registrar will accept by email unofficial scanned documents to initially admit you to a program and provide a Letter of Acceptance (which permits you to apply for a Study Permit).  

  • Before your first day of classes at RDP, you must submit official transcripts and English Language Proficiency documents to the Office of the Registrar.  

  • Please review the English Language Proficiency Requirements listed on the program webpage(s) for which you have applied.  

  • This is an important step in the admission process. You will not be able to attend classes at RDP until this step has been completed. 

  • If you have attended high school (secondary school) or post-secondary education in a country that is not listed below, or if your documents are not in English, you must obtain an Educational Assessment from  International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).  Fees to receive an IQAS assessment are the international applicant’s responsibility. 

Assessment of International Documents

In order to gain admission into a Red Deer Polytechnic program, international applicants must meet the Academic Requirements for their program of choice. The Office of the Registrar will evaluate an applicant's education history to determine if their courses are recognized and if they meet the academic admission requirements.

Please refer to the list below to find out what official documents are required.  If you have studied in a non-listed  country that is not on this list or if your documents are not in English, you must obtain an Educational Assessment from International Qualifications Assessment Services (IQAS).   

The IQAS assessment comes with a fee that the applicant must pay.

The Office of the Registrar will accept “unofficial” or scanned documents in order to admit you to a program and provide a Letter of Acceptance; however, you must provide official documentation to the Office of the Registrar prior to the first day of classes. This is a vital step in the admission process and you will not be granted “clear” admission until this step has been completed.
