Every year, RDP distributes over 2 million in student awards. The generosity of our donors – our alumni, friends, business partners foundations and others is unparalleled. By making gifts through annual funding and endowments, we are able to provide hundreds of students with awards, ensuring that they can afford to pursue their goals, and focus on studying and completing their programs instead of finding ways to make ends meet. Student awards open doors to opportunities students may not have had otherwise and encourage students to strive to reach their goals.

Legacy Giving, or Planned Giving, refers to the act of including charitable organizations like RDP in an estate plan. Legacy Giving allows you to make significant contributions while ensuring that your financial and philanthropic goals are met. A Legacy Gift is an extraordinary way to ensure that your memory lives on. You can select where you want your money to go – scholarships, new equipment, program support, or towards a variety of other improvements or student supports. Your gift will make a difference in the lives of future generations of RDP students.  

There are many types of Legacy Gifts, including:

• A bequest in a will
• A gift in kind (equipment, real estate)
• Publicly traded securities
• RRSP, RRIF or TFSA
• Life insurance
• Charitable annuity

When you become a Monthly or Yearly Donor, you make it possible to consistently     offer support to students through scholarships and awards, campaigns, emergency     funds, and special projects.

The RDP’s Athletics program would not be one of the most successful collegiate athletics programs in the country. We would not be able to achieve the level of success that we have without the support of our community partners.

Yes, we absolutely accept equipment donations, and many other forms of gift-in-kind donations.

Yes, RDP welcomes gifts of publicly listed securities, like mutual funds, shares and stocks, with the assistance of a professional broker. 

You can make your gift of shares to RDP by transferring them electronically. We recommend that you consult your financial advisor, securities broker, and another financial representative to assist you in making the transfer. To make a gift of shares, please use this form. 

Yes! We will work with you to ensure that your gift is being used in the ways you prefer. This can include supporting one of our four academic schools – the Donald School of Business, Science & Computing, School of Arts & Education, School of Health & Wellness, and the School of Trades & Technology one of our over 80  programs, or one of our areas of focus – Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare and Health Technology, Energy Innovation, and Social Innovation. 

For awards, we will work with you to develop the criteria for the award, including whether it is for financial need or academic excellence, or a specific program. 

Yes! Engaging with industry is a core value of RDP. Building collaborative partnerships with businesses and industry experts helps to ensure that our programs are on the leading edge and allows us to align our curriculum with the latest industry trends and demands, ensuring that RDP students have the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s workforce.  

Our industry connections also provide valuable opportunities for Work-Integrated Learning, hands-on projects, and real-world experiences for our students, which helps to ensure that our students are gaining theoretical and practical learning experiences. 

The Student Industry Engagement Fund provides opportunities for students to participate in conferences, forums, events and professional development activities that connect students to valuable networks and provides them with broad experiences that will help them to advance their studies, and their careers.
