The Nutcracker Ballet Program
Be a part of the Magic!
A Christmas Eve Party and Toy Soldiers battle Rats to break an evil spell. Enjoy a journey to a far-off land of Waltzing Flowers, a Sugar Plum Fairy, Angels on Gossamer Wings and Sweets from around the world.
Each year, Red Deer Polytechnic continues its magical holiday tradition by presenting Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker ballet through several performances in December.
Join our team of dancers as you step into the enchanted world of Nutcracker and learn the steps to this famous ballet whilst meeting new friends, developing your dancing skills and performing to your family, friends and the Red Deer community on the main stage at Red Deer Polytechnic this Christmas.
We invite dancers from age 4 through 18 with some dance experience to join our Nutcracker troop under the professional instruction of Tania Strader who has choreographed and directed this production for many years.
Placements are scheduled in September and dancers will spend countless hours developing their skills and rehearsing prior to the performances.
The Polytechnic also offers a ballet dance camp in August which leads up to the audition and performance. Students participating in this camp will have the opportunity to try on the costumes and practice the steps to prepare for the auditions should they wish to participate in The Nutcracker.
