Charity Brière
Biography
Charity's special areas of interest relate to insects, plants and insect-plant relationships. Since completing her Bachelor of Science in Entomology & Botany, she has worked in several fields related to these disciplines on federal, provincial, municipal, academic and private research levels.
Her master's thesis attempted to determine if there are measurable differences in bumble bee populations related to their proximity to managed honeybee hives. Currently, she is participating in a city-wide project attempting to survey the diversity of bees in Red Deer's rich urban landscape and regularly leads public workshops.
She also leads bee walks for folks who want to better understand the importance of wild insect and plant relationships and how we can support their conservation. Being a life-learner, Charity looks forward to never running out of things to get excited about.
Her main areas of teaching are Botany and Biology labs.
