Instructor

Biography

Cheri Notice was born and raised in Toronto to parents who immigrated to Canada to create greater educational opportunities for their children. From a young age, Cheri was passionate about education and completed a master’s degree in teaching from Andrews University and moved to Alberta to work as a teacher at a school for Indigenous students. It was here she learned the importance of empowering students to share their stories so they can positively impact their environment. Cheri taught for over ten years and then completed an MA in Student Development and Leadership to expand her skill set. She then worked for two years at Red Deer Polytechnic as a Program Coordinator in the Extended Education department before returning to Toronto.

Cheri now works as an educational liaison for the Durham Children's Aid Society, advocating for children and youth while also teaching as a contract teacher for the Extended Education program at RDP.

She is pursuing a PhD in Leadership in Education with a research focus on the correlation between fostering belonging and increased retention of racialized students in learning environments. She hopes she can continue inspiring learners to stay curious about life, find their voice, and live purposefully.
