Jacqueline L. Cowan

Biography

Jacqueline Cowan researches and teaches early modern English literature. She is interested in the exciting and sometimes surprising connections between literature and science.  She has written on Francis Bacon, Shakespeare and John Milton. Some of her work appears in Literature and Theology, Studies in Philology and Studies in English Literature. 

In addition to teaching sixteenth- and seventeenth-century literature, Cowan also teaches science fiction. She is invigorated by the broader implications of her studies and strives to show students how to make literature matter in their daily lives.
