Jennifer Dornstauder

Applied Research Team Member

Biography

With an engineering degree from the University of Alberta and a professional engineer designation from APEGA, Jennifer Dornstauder is tailor-made to steer R&D projects as CIM-TAC’s Engineering Technical Lead.

Prior to joining the CIM-TAC in 2021, Jennifer developed and manufactured mining and industrial equipment for companies across Canada. In her role at Red Deer Polytechnic, she conducts engineering and design on industrial applied research projects in the CIM-TAC, where she enjoys helping clients to solve problems and fine tune their designs.

Jennifer has a particular interest in the biomedical side of manufacturing and design, and her leadership in using advanced manufacturing technologies in the biomedical field is key to RDP’s work in that sector. Her dedication to additive manufacturing and 3D printing software has revolutionized CIM-TAC’s design and production process for customized medical devices.

On top of her work in the lab, Jennifer also lends her skills and knowledge in the classroom. She leads information sessions for participants in Manpower’s Career Moves program and speaks on medical device manufacturing to students in RDP’s Occupational and Physical Therapy Assistant classes.

Jennifer was an ASTech Award winner in 2022 as part of the team involved in CIM-TAC’s Women in Manufacturing initiative and was nominated in two categories at the 2023 ASTech Awards for her work in biomedical device manufacturing.
