Biography

Laura Rainville is a retired registered social worker who currently works part-time as an instructor of Continuing Education and Corporate Training at Red Deer Polytechnic. She is also a self-employed lawyer. Rainville holds a law degree from the University of Saskatoon and a BA from the University of Calgary, with a major in General Studies and a minor in Political Science. Her diverse career and volunteer experiences have led to a strong commitment to personal growth, resulting in a broad range of education, experience and competencies. 

Rainville has created and delivered classes and conferences to professionals, students and community interest groups. She has also volunteered at the Red Deer Public Library, teaching ESL to immigrants. With many years of experience providing support services to adults, some of whom were developmentally delayed and/or seniors, she has provided support to individuals with complex needs and those struggling with addictions. Additionally, she has job-coached adults at their work site and in their volunteer positions and has worked with a variety of learning disabilities and cognitive impairments. 

Rainville is a community facilitator, self-starter, independent worker and team player. She has networked, collaborated and built strong relationships with clients and agencies to raise the profiles of her employers and facilitate referrals. She maintains currency in her fields through research, training, reading and peer interaction.
