Biography

Tanya Lyons-Belt is Manager, Student Supports, at Red Deer Polytechnic. 

Working within the Division of Student Success as part of the Dean of Students’ leadership team, Tanya facilitates holistic student wellness in support of the Polytechnic’s strategic plan. She is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring services and processes for accessibility, inclusion, counselling, and mental health education. 

Tanya's experience as a psychologist in school divisions and other post-secondary institutions has contributed to her skill in assembling multi-disciplinary teams to identify, assess and provide the appropriate wrap-around care for students who are struggling with complex situations. 

Tanya has been a sessional lecturer at Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) in two educational psychology courses; The Inclusive Classroom and Classroom Assessment

Recognized areas of competency are Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Applied Research and Teaching. Tanya has completed close to 1000 psycho-educational assessments and maintains an Authorized Practice Endorsement, allowing her to diagnose most neuro-developmental disorders.
