Wei Zhao
Dr. Zhao received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Dr. Zhao specializes in limit load calculation, stress analysis, and integrity assessment for pressure vessels. He also holds a M.Eng degree and a B.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shandong University, China.
Dr. Zhao teaches first year engineering students in the Bachelor of Science, Engineering transfer program. He was awarded the 2012 Association of Canadian Community Colleges’ Gold Teaching Excellence Award. Dr. Zhao joined Red Deer College in 2007. Prior to that, he taught at College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Dr. Zhao has industrial and research experience both domestically and internationally in the fields of root cause failure analysis, stress analysis, and combustion system design. Currently his area of research focuses upon the identification of potential failure modes inherent in engineering systems and equipment, and the development of appropriate failure avoidance strategies.
