First Responder to Sexual Assault & Abuse Training

Survivors who receive safe and supportive responses to disclosures of sexual violence are more likely to access the supports they need.
With this training, participants will be able to:
- Define sexual violence and describe its various forms
- Understand the short & long-term impacts of sexual violence
- Articulate why sexual violence is never the fault of the person who has been harmed
- Explain the attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate sexual violence and other root causes
- Provide a positive & supportive first response to a disclosure of sexual violence
- Identify resources & referrals to support those who have experienced sexual violence
Facilitated by RDP Counsellor Heather MacLean and another trained facilitator.
PLEASE NOTE: This training is TWO FULL days on Sept 22nd & 23rd. You will need to attend both days to receive your certificate.
