Red Deer Polytechnic and our partners at the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre are pleased to present this Frontline Self Care Workshop, presented by Dr. Megan McElheran.

The nature and quality of occupational and organizational stressors faced by trauma-exposed professionals, and particularly those working in child-centred roles, are increasingly better understood. This workshop will focus on discussion of the current status of understanding of the psychological risks faced by those working in these essential roles. The workshop will endeavor to equip participants with strategies and information for ways in which their psychological wellness can be safeguarded in their current occupations.

Material provided will be evidence-based and has been disseminated to thousands of frontline workers and trauma-exposed professionals across Canada, who have used these strategies successfully to manage their wellness and stress in their lives.

Dr. Megan McElheran is a Clinical Psychologist and the CEO of Wayfound Mental Health Group, based in Calgary. She completed graduate training at the Palo Alto-Stanford University Clinical Psychology Consortium, during which she obtained specialized training in the treatment of PTSD through the US Veterans Affairs National Center for PTSD in Menlo Park, CA. During her time in California, Dr. McElheran worked in various settings within the VA, providing clinical services to active-duty military members and Veterans in outpatient and residential treatment settings.

Cost to attend this workshop is $53.52.
