RDP Participates in Dimensions Program to Advance Equity Priorities

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) continues to demonstrate its commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) by becoming a participant in Dimensions: equity, diversity and inclusion Canada, a federal initiative to enhance EDI in post-secondary institutions.
“RDP’s participation in the Dimensions program aligns with our institution’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy: Connection. Empowerment. Bravery,” says Rambo Nyirimihigo, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor, Red Deer Polytechnic. “At the Polytechnic, we are dedicated to continuing to create welcoming and inclusive campuses that provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff to reach their potential.”
By joining Dimensions—a globally recognized program that fosters EDI in higher education—Red Deer Polytechnic reinforces its support for marginalized groups. These include Indigenous Peoples, individuals with disabilities, visible equity-deserving groups and members of LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
Beyond promoting inclusivity, Dimensions also empowers institutions through encouragement of inclusive participation, improved access to funding opportunities and the integration of EDI principles into research design and practices.
This initiative complements RDP’s own five-year EDI Strategy, which reflects the institution’s collective dedication to enhancing a more inclusive and equitable learning and working culture. The strategy emphasizes awareness, education and relationships as key drivers for meaningful change.
Integral to this work are the Polytechnic’s EDI Student and Employee Advisory Committees. These groups collaborate with faculty, staff, leadership and campus organizations to ensure the strategic implementation of EDI priorities throughout Red Deer Polytechnic. Their input helps shape impactful initiatives, identify systemic gaps and guide policy development that advances equity across the institution.
RDP’s continued focus on EDI—including its involvement in the Dimensions program—also aligns with the broader goals outlined in its 2030 Strategic Plan: Productivity and Social Impact of its diverse campus community.
