RDP Welcomes New Dean of Donald School of Business

Red Deer Polytechnic is pleased to welcome Rafael (Raf) Mohammed to its academic leadership team, as Dean of the Donald School of Business.  

Mr. Mohammed brings more than 24 years of leadership experience in advanced technical training within the post-secondary sector. Most recently, he has served as Vice President at the NESC Technical Institute (NESC-TI), in Trinidad & Tobago. In this role, Mr. Mohammed spearheaded innovative leadership strategies, driving a student-centered and industry-focused approach to training. His efforts were instrumental in positioning NESC-TI as a premier training provider. RDP is proud to partner with NESC-TI in providing support for apprenticeship training for learners in Trinidad & Tobago.  

“We are excited to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Mohammed as he joins our Polytechnic community,” says Lindsay Engel, Vice President, Academic and Student Success at Red Deer Polytechnic. “His extensive expertise will help to ensure that RDP’s programming within the Donald School of Business continues to grow and to meet the needs of our students and Alberta’s diverse workforce.”  

The Donald School of Business houses industry-relevant programs focused in the areas of business, continuing education and corporate training.

Mr. Mohammed holds a master’s degree in human resources management with a specialization in training development from the University of the West Indies and has also completed the Advanced Management for Training program with a focus on Technical Competency Development at the ICON Institute in Aachen, Germany. 

Recognizing the evolving needs of organizations in which he has worked, Mr. Mohammed expanded his expertise into Quality Management Systems, earning professional designations from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in both Management of Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) and Certified Quality Engineering (CQE).  

Raf Mohammed will begin his new role, leading the Polytechnic’s Donald School of Business, starting on April 1, 2025.
