Spectrum of Substance Use 

  • Enhance your knowledge and skills of substance use by learning key concepts and practical approaches to support those affected. 

  • Recognize illicit drugs commonly misused by persons using them. 

  • Describe the spectrum of substance use and relate it to the root causes of substance use disorder. 

  • Explain the role of trauma in substance use disorder. 

Root Causes & Recovery

  • Explore the typical ages and stages of brain development and learn how substance use impacts youth differently at each stage. 

  • Practice trauma informed communication with vulnerable youth without guilt, shame or blame for either party. 

  • Learn to use assessments to help measure the degree of potential substance use disorder. 

  • Explain prevention and intervention strategies that acknowledge the learners' duty to care and specific epidemiology of youth substance use. 

Connecting with Compassion

  • Ethical awareness will be a cornerstone of the course, ensuring that all actions taken respect the dignity and rights of those affected by substance use. 

  • Describe how to ethically connect people living with substance use disorder to available community support. 

  • Demonstrate cultural competency in your approach to harm reduction. 

  • Develop personal and professional skills that support your health while acting as an advocate for youth living with substance use disorder. 

Graduation Requirements

Once you have paid for your course(s), you will have 90 days to complete the coursework.
