A Summer Theatre School for Kids

Note: Artstrek camps registration opens May 15, 2025.

Artstrek students explore the creative process through five daily classes, including the study of acting, movement, voice, devising, design, directing and dramaturgy. All of these classes take inspiration from a single play of study. Students also become a part of the Artstrek community and create friendships that will last a lifetime.

Each week-long “Exploration” takes place within the performing arts facilities at RDP. Students stay in dorms on campus and eat meals together in the RDP cafeteria. Classes run daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Artstrek Supervisors lead fun activities each evening.

Theatre Alberta recruits leading theatre educators and professional artists from across Alberta to teach at Artstrek. Our instructors bring extensive practical and academic knowledge to the program and connect participants directly to the Alberta theatre scene. Artstrek is more than 60 years old and has 10,000+ alumni working across Alberta, Canada, and the world.

WordsWorth is a week-long sleepover creative writing residency for young artists who believe in the power of words and storytelling. Campers will be completely immersed in the creative and diverse world of writing. 

Guided by established and respected artist-instructors, the young artists will experience writing through fiction, nonfiction, poetry, spoken word, music, movement, and more. But the experiences don’t begin and end with the classes; WordsWorth is a place where young artists come together to celebrate writing through friendship, campfire stories and songs, concerts, open mic sessions, hikes, haiku, and semi-competitive games outside of class.
