Biography

Brandi, a Red Deer Polytechnic alumna, began her career at Red Deer Regional Hospital post-graduation in 2006, where she specialized in neurology nursing. In 2011, she transitioned to nursing education at Red Deer Polytechnic, where she found her passion. 

Brandi has certifications in both Simulation Education through Drexel University and Interprofessional Education through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing. She is committed to continuous learning and reflective practice to enhance her professional practice. She maintains expertise in nursing education and currency with nursing trends through workshops, seminars, conferences and scholarly articles. 

As a nursing instructor, Brandi creates a student-centered learning environment. She integrates evidence-based teaching methodologies into her instruction, fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere for nursing students’ growth. As the program lab and simulation lead, she collaborates with numerous teams to foster innovation and scholarship, enhancing the student learning experience in the lab setting. 

Brandi is an active member of numerous committees, both institutionally and in the community. She has presented at various professional conferences on topics such as the implementation of virtual simulation for acute care clinical, the course development and facilitation for interprofessional education in healthcare diploma programs and the practical application of the flipped classroom methodology. 

Brandi was nominated for and the recipient of the Rita McGregor Excellence in Nursing Education award. This award shows the work of Licensed Practical Nurses who demonstrate excellence in providing nursing education.
