Denise Chiles
Biography
Instructing biology, anatomy and physiology is an excellent blending of Denise’s passion for education and awe of nature and the human body. With her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education., she is a seasoned teacher in urban, rural and overseas classrooms. Denise grew up in Red Deer, returning to join RDP faculty in 2011. She has taught in various fields including mature student upgrading classes, biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology. She completed her Masters in Biology online providing firsthand experience of how to be a successful online learner.
She enjoys nature photography, a good cup of coffee, traveling and walking her dog by the river.
Received “Makes Science Cool” teaching award nomination.
Provided colleague support as a mentor of new teachers, assistant to the head of the department, shadow teacher for a new immigrant teacher and lead Teacher for University Students in teacher training.
Piloted new Science 10 Curriculum. Presented findings at the Alberta Science Teachers Conference in seminar and workshop form.
Leader of teaching team with new Biology and Chemistry curriculum rollout.
Participated in a pilot of “Open Minds University School”
