Kevin Willoughby

Instructor

Biography

Kevin Willoughby has a Bachelor's and Master's in Business Administration degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He is currently finishing a Doctorate of Business Administration from the Swiss Management Centre.

Upon graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with an MBA, Kevin started teaching at Lakeland College before switching over to work in industry. However, the call to teach was too great for Kevin and he returned to his life as a college instructor.

Before joining Red Deer Polytechnic in 2011, Kevin taught in Dubai for three years. Even though he found the temperature a little too hot, Kevin and his family enjoyed living in another part of the world and learning about their culture.

Looking back at the different places where he has taught, one thing remains a constant – he has always taught statistics. Kevin enjoys the challenge of helping students realize that statistics is fun and not just a required course.

Outside of class, Kevin is busy with various polytechnic committees working on improving the engagement of students in and out of the classroom.  To better engage with the community, Kevin uses his statistical and computing expertise to consult on medical research proposals, work with an Alberta sports league and volunteer with a football official association.

Kevin and Doug MacDormand have been working with the Donald School of Business Science (DSBSC) and Computing team to develop opportunities for students to go beyond the books. They launched the Dean’s Certificate – Recognition of Excellence that will help all DSBSC students develop the extra-curricular skills that employers are looking for.
