Biography

Michelle is a seasoned healthcare professional with over three decades of experience in nursing, leadership coaching and program development. She graduated from the University of Calgary Co-Joint Nursing Program in 1990 and began her nursing career working on acute medical and infectious disease units in Calgary’s acute care settings where she worked for many years.

In the early 2000s, she transitioned from acute care to community care and completed her National Certification in Community Nursing in 2012. It was during this portion of her career that Michelle fell in love with program design and delivery. As a home care nurse, she recognized that nurses could be strong advocates for how the systems providing care could advance beyond basic delivery frameworks. This led her to pursue leadership positions in various healthcare settings, where she could influence program policy, procedure and portfolio management by combining healthcare delivery knowledge and leadership expertise.

In 2020, Michelle completed a Master of Leadership at Royal Roads University with a focus on systems thinking and leadership development.

Michelle grounds herself in the values of curiosity, inclusivity and contribution. She believes that everyone has something great to contribute to the success of nursing and leadership regardless of age, culture or educational achievement.
