About the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative

The AFWI was created by the Palix Foundation in 2007 to bridge the gap between the latest science of brain development, mental health, and addiction and what is currently being done in policy and practice. The AFWI's main tool for knowledge mobilization is the Brain Story Certification Course, a free online course that shares scientific learnings on brain science. The Brain Story and Resilience Scale Framework provide a foundational knowledge and common language to educate policymakers, practitioners, and the public on the link between brain development and impacts on health, mental health, and overall well-being throughout the lifespan.
